Arts in Motion moves my heart and soul. Join me in learning, expanding, and loving through the gift of expression shared by our program participants.

LeAnn Secord
Secretary

I am a local fundraising professional, community volunteer and freelance writer. I was drawn to AIM because of its commitment and dedication to enhancing the community and making the expressive and creative arts accessible to everyone.

Mabel (Raven) Malone
Treasurer

Arts In Motion was always a huge part of my upbringing. As an upcoming Realtor, I joined Arts In Motion to not only give back, but to further develop my love for arts and creativity. I am excited being a part of a team that loves what they do.

I am a Grand Rapids native who believes life is to be lived, not dreamed. I recently sold my dance fitness company so that I could pursue the next adventure in life - whatever that may be! I'm thrilled to be part of the AIM organization and help give the gift of living life to the fullest to the wonderful students and families that AIM serves. I currently work as a Communications Manager for PlanSource, Inc. and enjoy traveling, kayaking, and salsa dancing as much possible.

Abbie Stoppa

I have been married to my best friend Niel for 15 years. I am the mother of two beautiful boys Austin 22, Keenan 20 and a sweet little fur baby Rella Roo who is 9. I enjoy outdoor activities such as camping, running, biking and going to the beach.

I have worked for and with nonprofit agencies for the past 20 years, and am currently the Senior Development Director for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. I am passionate about helping others and the arts. My mother is an artist and I danced for 18 years; art is a big part of who I am. The mission and drive behind Art in Motion is very personal to me as my son Austin has developmental disabilities and loves art!

I am excited for the opportunity to advocate for families, raise awareness and help educate communities.

 Mary Redford Hilger

I got married in October 2016 to my wonderful husband, Andrew Hilger. I am in my last semester of law school and will be taking the Michigan bar in July.

I joined the team because I am very interested in nonprofit organizations with a focus on the arts here in Grand Rapids. I worked for ArtPrize for a year and was able to work with their development team. I have a history working with museums throughout Michigan, and other nonprofit organizations too.

I'm hoping to gain even more experience with AIM, learning even more about this organization and seeing the benefits it has for the people directly involved and throughout West Michigan.

Jennifer Morgan

I wanted to join the Arts in Motion team as I've always wanted to join a board for a nonprofit in my community as a way to give back, and this organization combines two of my passions; individuals with different abilities and art!

I have worked in the mental health field for almost 15 years, currently as a social worker and case manager in Ionia County for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness. I LOVE my job! I'm working on my Masters of Social Work degree at Grand Valley State University and hope to graduate in a couple of years.

Paul VandeWater

As a big brother to 20+ year student at AIM, I have seen firsthand the awe inspiring impact art, music and dance can have on the lives of the students, their families and the community as a whole.

A 2001 graduate from GVSU with a BS in Communications, I have been a Sales Representative for MASCO Architectural Coatings since 2004. I also do a little farming as a co-owner of Newaygo County Hops. I'm happily married to Haley and dog-daddy to Tallulah. Though I grew up in Wyoming, Mich., I now reside in Newaygo. I enjoy paddle boarding and pontooning on Hess Lake where I have lived for the last ten years. I also volunteer at Habitat for Humanity and West Michigan Miracle League.

  Emily Shanahan
Student Representative

I have been a student at AIM for a decade. I now assist with other classes and help with choreography. I work three days a week. The rest of the week I help at home and do my artwork. I love to make purses, wallets, figures and drawings. I hope to be able to sell some of my works in the future. I like being a student representative on AIM's board.
