Make Your 2025 Gift Count Before December 31, 2025
As we approach year-end, there are several smart ways to maximize the impact of your charitable giving—and your tax benefits.
- Consider directing your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), which can satisfy your RMD without increasing taxable income.
- In 2025 even if you don’t itemize, you can still deduct charitable contributions in 2025: up to $1,000 for single filers and $2,000 for married couples filing jointly.
- Donating appreciated securities offers a double advantage: avoid capital gains tax and claim an itemized deduction.
- 2025 is also the last to capture the full benefit of the 37% top tax bracket before it drops to 35%, and with a new 0.5% floor on itemized deductions coming soon, future tax benefits may shrink.
As Board Treasurer and a CPA with Plante Moran, I encourage you to act now and make your gift before December 31 to take advantage of these opportunities. Please consult your tax professional to confirm how these strategies apply to your situation.

Uptown Shop Hop on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at 3PM
Come shop student artwork – cards, prints, Christmas decor, etc – at our annual neighborhood event, Shop Hop! We will be set up outside of our dance studio from 3pm to 7pm on Thursday, December 4th, 2025!
Holiday Show on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 6PM
Join us on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 6pm for our performance of The Nutcracker! This show will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church. This performance is free to attend and is followed by a cookie reception.
Our Holiday Show promises to be an unforgettable evening; you won’t want to miss it!
Santa Claus is coming to… Arts in Motion Studio!
