My name is Doug Johnson. I am an attorney with the Grand Rapids based law firm, Miller Johnson, focusing on a wide variety of Commercial Real Estate and Business matters. I received my law degree from Michigan State University College of Law and my undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan.
Between my undergraduate and law degrees I wore many hats, including commercial real estate business development rep, substitute teacher, factory manager, and assistant golf professional; and for a large portion of that time I lived and worked in Grand Rapids. I spent time interacting with local clients, teaching kids of all ages in golf and school, and managing a wide range of personalities in the factory setting. Additionally, for the past several years while working as an attorney, I have been a volunteer coach with the First Tee, a national charitable organization devoted to teaching life skills to children of all ages through golf.
I am excited to be a part of Arts In Motion and to apply my broad perspective and experience to its already strong presence in Grand Rapids. My experiences with the First Tee and working with children have instilled in me a drive to give back to my community and to help others.
Outside of work I like to stay active, golfing, biking, and playing tennis when I can; and I often travel with my wife to northern Michigan on weekends to ski near my hometown of Petoskey in the winter and to spend time at my family cottage in the Upper Peninsula’s Les Cheneaux Islands.
