Hello, My name is Emily Perton. I have been blessed with a wonderful family including my husband, two young men with Down Syndrome, a forever dog, a forever cat and foster puppies from Paws with a Cause that come and go. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Special Education and a Masters degree in Family Science. I am a self-proclaimed inclusionist and believe that all people should have equitable access to opportunities. I have had the honor of holding different jobs where I have been able to live out my passion of helping people find their place of belonging. This journey began in a special education elementary classroom, moved to a church setting, continued in a college inclusion program for individuals with disabilities and is currently the director of Student Success at Kuyper College.

I first learned about Arts in Motion as a parent, shortly after adopting my first son he was invited to attend a class at Arts in Motion. We were instantly welcomed into the family atmosphere and my son was encouraged to express himself and grow in his art exploration. We have continued to be involved in Arts in Motion over the years as both of our sons have explored many different art opportunities from dance to playing guitar. I am honored to be part of the board at Arts in Motion.
