Brian Bowman

Brian Bowman

We were so sad to hear of the passing of a great artist and community member! We are proud to know about his life and how he brought Art to so many others. His gifts are clear and we lift his family in love as they celebrate his life!

Brian Bowman was born April 24, 1974, and died at age 46 years – February 7, 2021.

Brian held a Landscape Architecture degree from Michigan State University. And was the owner of 2B Paintings in Saugatuck Michigan.

Brian had a kind demeanor, was self-effacing, and a slightly wicked sense of humor. A loveable teddy bear with a sense of irony comes to mind. When I think of Brian I cannot but think of his love of art and his joy in painting. Brian enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his niece and nephew. He passes on his love for art to them.

Where Brian really excelled was in his paintings of eagles. It shows an eagle, wings spread wide, soaring over the mountains. I like to think that as he painted it Brian felt his spirit soar. It was, I believe, his masterpiece. Brian was and will always be a dear friend who inspired and inspires me. Brian, his sweet smile, his transparency, and his infectious laugh will be with me forever.

Brian liked to write, also and taught writing classes at CMH and the drop-in center for those of various abilities. He was not only approachable but a rare listener, who truly wanted to understand what you were saying. We will miss having that friendship.

Like everyone, Brian had personal battles, and he was an inspiration to many by continuing to attend support groups and, in recent years, losing nearly 200lbs by eating well and walking a great deal. He would be most encouraging to everyone along their journeys, even though he had so much to be proud of in his own right.. He also enjoyed the companionship of his cat, Jasper.
